Why do I get the "Social network returned an unknown error..." message on my Facebook posts?

If you see the error message: "Social network returned an unknown error. Check the account to see if the post has been published", this means that Facebook responded with an unexpected error while Publer was trying to publish your post.

What does this error mean?

Publer was able to send the post to Facebook, but Facebook did not send back a confirmation. Because of this, Publer is unable to confirm whether the post was published or not.

There are a couple of reasons why this could happen:

  1. A temporary issue on Facebook’s side.
  2. Sudden changes in Facebook’s API that affect how Publer communicates with their platform.
  3. Account-specific issues, such as expired sessions or missing permissions.
  4. Connectivity or network interruptions during the publishing process.

Here's what you can do:

  • Check your Facebook account - Log in to your Facebook account directly and verify if the post was published.
  • If the post wasn't published - Try publishing the post manually from Publer by clicking the "Publish" button, or reschedule it for a later time.
  • Reauthorize your Facebook account -To ensure a stable connection, reauthorize your account on Publer. This refreshes the connection with Facebook and helps prevent similar issues in the future.
