Owner's API vs Member's API credentials

DesktopStart

Each member, Client, Admin, or Editor, can post on the assigned social accounts by using the Owner's API credentials or the Member's.

Using the Owner's or using their own API credentials does NOT mean that the Owner’s or user’s name will show up on the social media channels – that is not possible. On social accounts, you always post as the account itself. The only exception are Facebook Groups and WordPress accounts, where you can also post as a profile.

You can specify whether a member should use the Owner's API credentials or use the Member's API credentials.

When a member is using the API credentials of the Owner, they will be able to post to social networks without any access. Also, when social accounts need reauthentication, they will have to be reauthenticated by the Owner.
When the member is using the Member's API credentials, they will need to have access to a social network (i.e. be an Admin of a FB Page), in order to post to it. They can also reauthenticate the social accounts on their own, without needing the Owner to do that. Learn more about the difference between using owner or their own API credentials below in this article.

1. Use the Owner's API credentials.

Members will be able to post to the social network using the API credentials of the Owner. For example, when adding a Freelance member to your workspace with whom you do not want to share your credentials, you can simply assign "use Owner's API credentials" to them.
Whenever a member has "use Owner's API credentials" access and they need reauthentication for a social account, the Owner of the workspace will have to do it on their behalf.
When a member "use Owner's API credentials", they will be limited when it comes to changing account settings, such who they are posting as on the Facebook Group or WordPress accounts. This will be decided by the Owner and can only be changed by the Owner.

When posting via reminders using the Owner's API credentials, the Owner is the one who will receive the push notification on their phone. This is ideal when delegating content creation for your own Facebook personal profile to other members without giving them access to your Facebook.

2. Use the Member's API credentials.

Members will be posting to the social network using their own API credentials.
Whenever a member has "use the Member's API credentials" access and has access to that social account (i.e. Admin of a Facebook Page), they can reauthenticate the account themselves.
When a member has "use the Member's API credentials", they will be able to change who they are posting as to WordPress accounts, under the social account's settings.

When choosing between these two settings, a few tips to keep in mind are:

Members will simply be using the API credentials, not the actual credentials. Whenever a member does not have access to a specific social account but you want them to be able to post to it, you should allow them to "use the Owner's API credentials".
Using Owner API credentials means that the Owner will have to manage and reauthenticate the social account on behalf of the member. It is recommended you use this option if you do not want your members (Editors, Admins, or Clients) to have re-authenticate the accounts on their own.
If you want your users to be able re-authenticate the social accounts themselves, and if they already have the necessary access to the social accounts to do that (i.e. Admin of a Facebook page), simply allow them to "use the Member's API credentials"

To choose the posting permission:

On the specific Publer Workspace, go to Members on the left side panel.

Manage your team's workflow

On the specific member, click on the Edit social accounts:

Manage a Team member on Publer

Change the posting access for each social account assigned to them.
Finally, specify the posting level to your liking.
